Over the Holidays, a Coloradan article was published detailing an upcoming land sale of the museum’s current building from the city to the county. This sale, scheduled for 2028, could happen as early as July 2027. Though this news comes with some sadness, and we will miss our home of 15 years, we are taking this as an opportunity to look forward with intention.

Change is scary, but oftentimes inevitable. Over the years, the topic of finding a new home for GVM was floated many times. But without any incentive to pursue this course, no concrete action was taken. Now though, is the time for action.

Our board and staff are taking this matter seriously, and plans are already underway to begin the search. This may look like purchasing a building, finding another lease, partnering with other local non-profits, arts organizations, or businesses. We are open to any and all possibilities in this early stage.

We would be sad to leave our downtown community, but accept this as a possible outcome. Perhaps, GVM could be on the frontlines of championing a new neighborhood. Though the uncertainty is intimidating, the possibilities are exciting!

2026 is GVM’s 20th year anniversary, a milestone we reached only with the support of our amazing community and the vision of those who founded our organization. A legacy that will carry us through these uncertain times.

Rest assured, the Global Village Museum is here to stay, and we are dedicated to providing top class cultural experiences in Fort Collins for our community for years to come!
